Police and firefighter/paramedics from Niles responded about 5:00 p.m. Saturday May 8, 2021 to a report of a house fire in the block of 8400 West Crain Street in Niles.
Niles Fire Department Tower 2’s crew on arrival reported heavy smoke showing from the gables and ridge of the roof of a house.
Firefighters from Des Plaines, Park Ridge and Skokie were assigned to the scene
Firefighters and paramedics from Wilmette and Des Plaines stood by in the Niles fire station for standby coverage for the Village of Niles.
Firefighters had two lines on the fire and worked on vertical ventilation by 5:19 p.m. The fire was “struck” by 5:28 p.m. and firefighters were checking for hot spots.
Initially no injuries were reported.
