Police, firefighters and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 11:26 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2021 to a report of a crash with injuries at Arlington Heights Road and Oakton Street in Arlington Heights.
Police on arrival discovered that two males, including the driver, fled from one of the vehicles — a gray Honda Civic. The hit-and-run victim’s vehicle is a Lexus RX 350.
A K-9 unit was assigned to track for the driver and passenger that fled. The focus of the track was on the area southwest of the intersection.
Arlington Heights police possibly caught up with one of the occupants of the hit-and-vehicle at Chestnut Avenue and Clarendon Street about five blocks west of the crash scene. While standing near the southeast corner of the intersection, police were questioning a male/Hispanic suspect, and questioning him in Spanish language to determine whether he was the driver of the hit-and-run vehicle.
From the appearance of the scene it did not seem that he was suspected to be the driver; but he may have been the second occupant who fled with the driver.
One or more people in the Lexus refused medical transportation.
