The Arlington Heights Police Department responded on Monday, May 17, 2021 to a report that at approximately 9:00 a.m. a female juvenile was touched inappropriately while walking to school in the area of East Valley Lane and North Pinetree Drive in Arlington Heights.
The juvenile female victim reported that while walking to school she was approached by a suspect who began speaking with her. During their conversation the suspect touched the victim on the buttocks. The victim was able to run away, and there were no injuries reported.
The Arlington Heights Police Department reported Monday that the Criminal Investigations Bureau is seeking witnesses and is requesting assistance in identifying the suspect. The the groping or inappropriate touching is initially classified as a battery.
The suspect is described as a male with dark skin, possibly African-American, 30 to 40 years of age, 6’0″ with an average build. The suspect had a goatee and wore a blue surgical mask which was pulled down. He was wearing a blue shirt and unknown colored sweatpants, according to the Arlington Heights Police Department. Initially there was no vehicle associated with the suspect or to this crime.
Initially it is unknown whether police investigators have obtained any security camera or doorbell camera images of the suspect.
The incident location is in a residential neighborhood. Significant landmarks near the location are Willow Park path with McDonald Creek, Lake Arlington and Ivy Hill Elementary School to the east; a ComEd right-of-way with open land to the north; and shopping centers to the south and west.
