Police, firefighters and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about , 2021 to a report of a house fire in the block of 700 West Berkley Drive in Arlington Heights.
Engine 4’s crew on arrival reported nothing showing from the front and two sides of the house, but a homeowner out front said the back patio was on fire.
Engine 4’s crew initially extinguished the fire with a pump can. The fire involved a patio deck type structure that was not attached to the house. A fire pit on the deck burned through the deck.
The fire was declared out by about 12:10 a.m., but firefighters pulled a pre-connect hose line to was down the deck with the goal of preventing any re-kindling of the fire.
The fire was located in a backyard on the south side of Berkley Drive west of Ridge Avenue. The NWS Office Chicago O’Hare reported winds calm at 11:51 p.m. The NWS Office at Chicago Executive Airport also reported winds calm at 11:52 p.m.
