Police, firefighters and paramedics from Des Plaines responded about 4:44 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2021 to a report of a crash with injuries at Miner Street and Western Avenue in Des Plaines.
Des Plaines Fire Department Tower 61 on arrival reported a vehicle head-on into a tree with the driver on the ground next to the vehicle. A second vehicle was also involved in the crash.
A second ambulance was requested by the Des Plaines Battalion Chief by 4:50 p.m. — a second Des Plaines ambulance was dispatched to the scene. Initial report expected one transport and three medical refusals.
Traffic at 4:55 p.m. showed a moderate slowdown and backup near the scene.
