PALATINE — State Representative Tom Morrison (R-Palatine) is hosting a blood drive in partnership with Palatine Township and Vitalant. The event will take place on Tuesday, April 20th, at Palatine Township, 721 South Quentin Road, from 9:00am — 1:30pm and by appointment only.
Rep. Morrison’s drive will take every necessary safety precaution to keep both volunteers and donors safe during the event, which is why appointments are required. To make an appointment to donate blood, residents can visit: donateblood.lifesource.org and enter search code 517D.
Food donations for the Palatine Township Food Pantry are also welcome during the event.
This event will be the Representative Tom Morrison’s sixth blood drive during the COVID-19 pandemic; the blood drives have brought out countless residents from throughout the 54th District to give blood and help mitigate the ongoing blood shortage in Illinois. Like the previous events, this upcoming blood drive will also aim to surpass expected food donations for the local food pantry.
“Donating blood is one way every resident can help make a lasting impact—it doesn’t take long and can help save a life,” said Rep. Morrison, who was honored for his work last August by the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers (ICCBC).
The Representative encourages any and all residents to reserve their spot today if they are able to donate blood. Spots are limited for blood donation, so interested residents should make an appointment as soon as possible.

Vitalant (formerly Blood Systems Inc.) is a nonprofit organization that collects blood from volunteer donors and provides blood, blood products and services across the United States. Vitalant was founded in 1943 as the Salt River Valley Blood Bank in Phoenix, Arizona. Today Vitalant serves 40 states, has 127 donation centers, and claims to collect about 1.8 million donations of blood each year from about 780,000 donors.
