Police, firefighters, and paramedics from Palatine responded about 8:38 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2021 to a report of a natural gas leak at the southwest corner of the intersection near Denny’s.
Firefighters on arrival confirmed a natural gas leak and requested Nicor to the scene. The incident was reported only as a ruptured gas line.
Expect modified traffic patterns and conditions as police and firefighters and Nicor resolve and repair the leak. Initially the worst traffic backup appears to be on US 12 WEST (Rand Road northwest bound).
The National Weather Service report at Chicago Executive Airport reported winds West 8 MPH with an air temperature of 52°F.
