Schaumburg police about 4:42 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2021 responded to a commercial burglary at or near the Gerber Collision & Glass Intake Center, 208 West Golf Road in Schaumburg. Schaumburg police reported sighting of stolen vehicles with accomplices in a chase vehicle. Schaumburg police also reported aggravated fleeing and eluding involving these vehicles. One of the sighted stolen vehicles was described as possibly a black or dark 2018 Dodge Challenger, and the second vehicle was described as a gray Jeep. Apparently, Schaumburg police interrupted a burglary in progress.
The drivers of the vehicles fled from Schaumburg police officers, and were last seen eastbound on I-90 from Roselle Road. Gerber is located on Golf Road just west of Roselle Road.
Stolen license plates may have been involved in this case, and initially it was not clear whether both vehicles were stolen at another location in Chicago, or whether stolen license plates complicated the investigation. Schaumburg Police Department is investigating.
A second commercial burglary attempt occurred at about 5:20 a.m. at the Napleton Dodge auto dealership, 1155 West Dundee Road in Arlington Heights involving the same suspects and vehicles.
Initially, there was no description of the suspects.
The suspects and the two vehicles also apparently fled Arlington Heights police officers, and were last seen southbound on Route 53 near Northwest Highway.
