Illinois State police responded about 12:56 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2021 to a report of a hit-and-run crash and robbery on the Kimball Avenue ramp to I-90 WEST (northbound). The offender was involved in a hit-and-run crash near the ramp, committed a robbery, and fled on foot.
Illinois State Police are investigating the robbery. Initially, no description of the suspect that robbed the other motorist was available.
The on-ramp is located near Kimball Avenue and Avondale Avenue, and about seven blocks south of Irving Park Road. A Marathon gas station is located on the northwest corner of the on-ramp and Kimball Avenue in the Avondale neighborhood in Chicago. The Avondale neighborhood is located just south of the Irving Park neighborhood.
The robbery occurred just before Illinois State Police troopers were called to respond to two fatal wrong-way crashes on Interstate 290 near DesPlaines Avenue near Forest Park, and near the Jane Byrne Interchange I-90/94.
