WANTED: Alexander McWilliam
A young woman found dead Sunday, March 14, 2021 is identified as 19-year-old Mishealia Meredith, of Harrisburg, Illinois, according to Gallatin County Coroner Tony Cox.
The Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) – Zone 8 is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Alexander McWilliam. McWilliam is wanted in connection to the shooting death of Mishealia M. Meredith on Saturday, March 13, 2021.
McWilliam is a 36-year-old African American male of Harrisburg, IL. He is 5’10” and weighs approximately 215 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
McWilliam is considered armed and dangerous. The public is cautioned, if they see McWilliam or know his current whereabouts, DO NOT approach him – immediately call 911.
The Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) – Zone 8 on March 14, 2021, was requested by the Harrisburg Police Department to investigate the disappearance of a female.
During the investigation, information obtained by the ISP DCI -Zone 8 agents led them to the block of 800 High Street in Eldorado, Illinois where evidence of a homicide was discovered. Additional information led agents to the discovery of the missing female victim’s body in rural Gallatin County, north of Equality. Meredith’s body was found late Sunday afternoon or early evening near North Pool Road around North Fork Township.
The investigation is being led by the ISP DCI – Zone 8 and is still open and ongoing. Initially the cause of death following an autopsy was unknown, according to Gallatin County Coroner Tony Cox. However the death was classified as a shooting death.
Anyone with information about the homicide or the missing woman whose body was found is asked to contact the ISP DCI Zone 8 at 618-542-2171.
