Susan R. Davis, a female resident of Zion, is scheduled to be arraigned this week, the second week of March 2021, on charges that she set a fire in a bathroom at the Gurnee Mills shopping mall on February 6, 2021.
A Lake County grand jury indicted Susan R. Davis, 51, earlier this month on a charge of aggravated arson. She is scheduled for an arraignment hearing Thursday, March 11, 2021, according to court records.
Gurnee police report that Davis and a 16-year-old suspect (identity not released) started a fire in a bathroom at Gurnee Mills, 6170 Grand Avenue in Gurnee on Saturday, February 6, 2021. Police received reports about 5:20 p.m. Saturday that smoke was coming from a bathroom. Upon arrival, police discovered a small fire that they assessed had been intentionally set.
A review of security video by police and security personnel resulted in the identification of Susan R. Davis and the juvenile, according to Gurnee Police Department. Both suspects were taken into custody on Friday, February 12, 2021. Davis was initially charged with two counts of aggravated arson and a felony count of criminal damage to property/starting a fire.
Susan R. Davis has been held in lieu of $200,000 bail at Lake County jail since her booking date on Saturday, February 13, 2021. The 16-year-old suspect was charged as a juvenile.
