Evanston police on Friday, March 12, 2021 released the identities of two homicide victims following a shooting earlier on Friday, March 12, 2021, about 11:46 a.m. Evanston Police responded to the shooting in the block of 1800 Hovland Court. According to Evanston Police Department, when Evanston police officers arrived, they located three victims in front of 1811 Hovland Court. The victims are three males 18, 20 and 21 years of age. Evanston Fire Department paramedics treated the victims on scene and transported them to Evanston Hospital. Skokie Fire Department paramedics also responded to the scene.
Two of the victims were pronounced deceased at Evanston Hospital. Jose Francisco Sanchez Guerrero, age 21, of the block of 10400 Dearlove Road in Glenview was pronounced dead at Evanston Hospital.
Demarcus Anthony Cokley, age 20, of the block of 600 Lee Street in Des Plaines was also pronounced dead.
The third victim was transported to Evanston Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment for several gunshot wounds. He is an 18 year-old Evanston resident.
Detectives from the Evanston Police Department and North Regional Major Crimes Task Force (NORTAF) are investigating the shooting. Initially there were no suspects in custody.
Police are seeking the identity of a male suspect wearing a dark hoodie and gray sweat pants who approached the victims and shot them while they were on a porch at 1811 Hovland Court, just north of Evanston Township High School. Jose Francisco Sanchez Guerrero was a student at Evanston Township High School.
