Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and Los Angeles County Fire Department responded about 7:12 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2021 to a single vehicle roll-over traffic crash on Hawthorne Boulevard and Blackhorse Road in Rolling Hills Estates, California — north of Palos Verdes Drive and near the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office Captain James Powers, and Los Angeles County Fire Department Fire Chief Daryl Osby were present at a press conference at about 3:00 p.m. PT (5:00 p.m. CT).

Lomita Station Sheriff’s division responded to the crash at 7:12 a.m. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputies confirmed a crash with a victim trapped. There was a secondary “property damage only” crash near the single-vehicle crash involving Tiger Woods. The vehicle, a 2021 Genesis, hit the road’s center divider and came to rest on the west side of the road. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputies did not see any evidence of impairment.

Fire Chief Daryl Osby said the LA County Fire Department Station 106 was dispatched at 7:22 a.m. Upon arrival with sheriff’s deputies already on scene, crews reported a single rollover vehicle crash with one person trapped in a vehicle.

A Halligan tool and a fire axe were used to access an opening for the extrication of Tiger Woods. He was extricated with stabilization measures, including C-Spine stabilization, a backboard, and splints. Wood was extricated through the windshield opening.

Tiger Woods was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Both of his legs were injured.

The vehicle was traveling northbound on Hawthorne Boulevard, at Blackhorse Road, when it crashed. The vehicle hit a curve, hit the center divide, hit a tree and left the roadway. The vehicle sustained major damage.

Officials confirmed earlier in the day that the crash victim was PGA golfer, Eldrick ‘Tiger’ Woods. Tiger Woods, age 45, was in the area for his annual Genesis Invitational golf tournament at the Riviera Country Club in the Pacific Palisades.
