Police, firefighters and paramedics from Buffalo Grove responded about 12:03 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2021 to a report of a house fire in the block of 600 Patton Drive in Buffalo Grove. Firefighters received a report of smoke from the roof of a house. Initially, no injuries were reported.
Police first on the scene reported heavy smoke from the roof of the house. Fire command, following the report from police, upgraded the call to a working fire by 12:07 p.m. Tower 25 firefighters and command on arrival reported heavy fire from the roof at the back of the house.
Tower 25 firefighters led out with an exterior attack to start the transitional attack at the back of the house. A Buffalo Grove crew and Arlington Heights crew with tools entered the front door with a second line.
Interior firefighters reported heavy fire in the attic, and had interior water on the fire by 12:21 p.m.
Palatine firefighters were assigned interior with pike poles. Prospect Heights firefighters were on deck for interior firefighters at the front of the house. Long Grove firefighters were assigned Rapid Intervention Team (RIT).
Summarizing water supply, interior firefighters were assigned two lines at the second floor near the attic, and one line on the first floor.
Lincolnshire firefighters were also assigned on deck at the front of the house, and were later assigned to bring in tarps to protect contents with salvage covers.
Prospect Heights firefighters were assigned to take a line to the first floor for extension or possible extension to the first floor.
Gas was shut off by firefighters and ComEd shut off the power remotely by 12:26 p.m.
The fire was declared knocked by 12:27 p.m.
Arlington Heights Battalion 1 was assigned Rehab Chief.
Firefighters from Arlington Heights, Lincolnshire, Long Grove, Palatine and possibly other communities were assigned to the scene of the fire.
Firefighters from Barrington-Countryside Fire Protection District and Park Ridge and possible other communities were assigned to standby in Buffalo Grove fire stations.
