Police, firefighters, and paramedics from Streamwood responded about 8:01 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2020 to a report of smoke in a house on the second floor in the block of 100 Augusta Drive in Streamwood.
Engine 31’s crew on arrival reported light smoke showing out the front door. Firefighters were connecting to a water supply by about 8:07 p.m. Residents were in the home when the fire was discovered, and successfully evacuated prior to the arrival of firefighters.
The fire department response was upgraded to a working fire (Code 4) by 8:07 p.m. and firefighters from Bartlett, East Dundee, Elgin, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates, and Schaumburg were assigned to respond to the scene.
Interior attack firefighters reached the second floor, and encountered heavy smoke and heat as they searched for the fire. Fire companies utilized one hand line to extinguish a fire discovered in the master bathroom.
Firefighters located one cat in the building and removed it to safety.
Firefighters from Bloomingdale and Fox River & Countryside Fire/Rescue District stood by at Streamwood fire stations to protect the Village of Streamwood during the incident.
The cause of the fire was not initially determined. Damage is estimated at $50,000.
