Police, firefighters and paramedics from Chicago responded about 10:32 a.m. Sunday, February 7, 2021 to the Midway International Chicago.
Firefighters received a report that the train was jackknifed. Fire Engine 127’s crew on arrival on the scene reported no injuries among 16 souls on board the train, which had stopped about 20 feet short of the platform at the Midway Orange Line Station.
Initially the incident was confirmed derailment; however it was changed to a “switching incident.”
Fifteen passengers were assisted with exiting the derailed train by Chicago firefighters.
The Still and Box Alarm and EMS Plan 1 were struck out and secured by 10:54 a.m. on orders of Deputy District Chief 2-2-4. Some ambulances remained at the scene during evacuation of the train passengers.
