Following are some of the social media collateral damage examples in the fight between the Australian government and Facebook. Facebook blocked the Burnet Institute (child and maternal health support), the World Wide Fund for Nature Australia, SA Health (Australia’s Public Health System), The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne, Hobart Women’s Shelter (support for homelessness and domestic violence), Sacred Heart Mission (homeless support), National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Legal Services (legal rights support), Facebook itself, Bureau of Meteorology Austrlia (Australia’s version of the United States NWS), Australasian Open Access Strategy Group (organization supporting Open and FAIR research), Four Paws Australia (charity for animal welfare), Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organizations, and Australian Society of Archivists (organization for professional archivists and recordkeepers).
Yes, our Facebook page is blocked! Professor Brendan Crabb AC said: "Any sudden change to quality health information flow at any time, but most especially in the midst of a health crisis, is deeply unethical and damaging. It should be met with the sustained contempt it deserves." pic.twitter.com/BMthea80oA

Because they can’t get their own way, @Facebook have decided to put the lives of Australians at risk!
We see you! All the world now sees you for what you are!#DeleteFacebook #FacebookAustralia #MarkZuckerberg pic.twitter.com/ePYwtBNB9F

Hobart Women's Shelter is also down. I'm so confused. #FacebookAustralia #facebooknewsban pic.twitter.com/L4W2v6T1ok

So Facebook, you think blocking a charity's page is smart – or social?!
We are not a news organisation. People in crisis need pages like ours to find (emergency) support. Your decision is endangering lives.
This needs to be reversed. Now✊#FacebookAustralia #facebooknewsban https://t.co/xOZqbYmezV

We are extremely concerned that NATSILS has been blocked by #FacebookAustralia, so have some of our members. This is a human rights issue, silencing the voices of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people, our representative peak bodies. This is how we connect with community. pic.twitter.com/EsUeoKZ2mG

Peak 2021 censorship:
So Facebook has just banned…. Facebook. Nice!#FacebookAustralia pic.twitter.com/XBl0FRtdz4

The BOM's Facebook page was restored at approx. 12.30pm AEDT today.
While social media is one way BOM engages with the community, it's important to get the latest weather and warnings information directly from https://t.co/4W35o8i7wJ or the #BOMweather app https://t.co/waAsVeWsu7— Bureau of Meteorology, Australia (@BOM_au) February 18, 2021
We have been blocked by the #FacebookAustralia action. We are not a news organisation but – and we're trying to see the droll side of this – an advocacy and education group for #openaccess to academic research outputs. pic.twitter.com/TtbBJI5BaK

We are also not a news organisation @Facebook. We work to build community, represent & bring Ukrainians together (like your mission statement). Please reverse this on our page, thousands of volunteer hours lost in seconds. #facebooknewsban #FacebookAustralia pic.twitter.com/Fps7qNQ8R6

Just a heads up that our Facebook page is currently restricted. It looks like @Facebook considers us as news.#FacebookAustralia pic.twitter.com/i2ObRnBEnX
