Five-vehicle head-on extrication crash on Algonquin Road just west of New Wilke Road with vehicles spread across about 100 yards in Rolling Meadows and Arlington Heights.
Police, firefighters and paramedics from Arlington Heights and Rolling Meadows responded about 8:50 a.m. Monday, January 11, 2021 to a report of a serious crash with entrapment.
Police were first on the scene and confirmed one person was trapped. Police and firefighter/paramedics on arrival discovered three vehicles with heavy damage and two other vehicles with lesser damage. Two vehicles had severe front-end damage from head-on impact. The third vehicle with heavy damage had severe damage near the left rear wheel and driver’s side.
Firefighter/paramedics worked with extrication tools to free a person from a crashed vehicle. The person was taken out the passenger side of an older model large sedan with severe front-end damage. The vehicle apparently crash with a minivan, which also had severe front-end damage.
One patient was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge with possible life-threatening injuries. The second patient was transported to Northwest Community Hospital.
