Illinois State Police troopers and firefighter/paramedics from Palatine responded about 6:30 a.m. Friday, January 22, 2021 to a report that a car crashed into the center wall and spun out into traffic. A silver Grand Am was involved in the crash, and a semi-trailer truck was also reported involved in the crash.
Lanes 1, 2 and 3 were down and cars were driving around the shoulder to pass the crash scene.
Two crash victims were assessed by paramedics and refused medical transportation.
At 7:15 a.m. northbound traffic Route 53 was at a standstill past Kirchoff Road.
Illinois State Police also received a report of another crash that involved a wheel coming off of a car at 6:54 a.m. on Route 53 near Euclid Avenue.
