Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Farmington area firefighters and paramedics (Fillmore EMS, Newburg EMS, and West Bend Intercept) responded about 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2021 to a report that a woman was found unresponsive after a sledding accident at the bottom of a sledding hill at Camp Awana, 9025 Camp Awana Road in Town of Farmington in Washington County Wisconsin.
Milwaukee Flight for Life was also assigned to the call. The woman, from Arlington Heights, Illinois, whose identity was initially not disclosed, was transported by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, where she was pronounced dead about 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
The 50-year-old Arlington Heights woman died Saturday from injuries suffered in the sledding accident, according to authorities. The accident occurred shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday, as the woman was sledding on an inner tube at Camp Awana, which is located about 40 miles north of Milwaukee.
A witness said the woman veered off course while traveling down the sledding hill in the inner tube and crashed into several trees in a brush area, Washington County Sheriff’s police said. During impact she was thrown from the inner tube and found lying unresponsive on the ground at the bottom of the hill, according to officials.
Washington County Sheriff’s police said the woman was in Wisconsin visiting relatives.
