Six people were shot at a party in Chicago’s Burnside neighborhood early Saturday morning, Chicago police say; and a witness said shooting could be heard for five minutes (CBS Chicago).
Police and firefighters and paramedics from Chicago responded about 12:29 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2020 to a report that multiple people were shot at or near 8936 South Cottage Grove Place in Chicago. Two people were among the first discovered shot inside a first floor business at the location.
Eventually a total of six people were discovered shot in at or near a business near the corner of Cottage Grove Avenue and 89th Place in the Burnside neighborhood of Chicago. The scene was chaotic with crying and screaming at the scene, and some driver’s in vehicles erratically following at least one ambulance to the hospital
Chicago police said that about 12:25 a.m., a group of people were gathered at an establishment in the block of 8900 South Cottage Grove Avenue when a person walked inside the business location and started shooting.
Six people were wounded — 5 adult males and one adult female. The shooter fled the scene after the shooting in the South Side neighborhood.
A 41-year-old man was struck in the abdomen and transported by Chicago Fire Department paramedics Code Red to Level 1 Trauma Center University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was listed serious condition.
Two men, both age 48, were struck in the leg and were transported by Chicago Fire Department paramedics Code Yellow to University of Chicago Medical Center, where they were listed in fair condition.
A 32 year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the foot and was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was listed in fair condition.
A 36 year-old woman was struck in the leg and transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where she was listed in fair condition.
A 28-year-old man, was shot in the hand and transported to South Shore Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition.
An EMS Plan 1 was not activated because all of the victims were not found at the beginning of the incident.
The shooter was at large as of early Saturday morning, December 19, 2020.
