Police from Streamwood responded about 8:24 a.m. Tuesday, December 22 , 2020 to a report of a sighting of a stolen vehicle — a gray 2000 Mitsubishi Outlander in Streamwood. The vehicle was reported stolen in DeKalb at about 7:03 a.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2020.
A crew in a Chicago Police/Cook County Sheriff’s helicopter at about 8:24 a.m. Tuesday spotted the vehicle make an eastbound turn on Schaumburg Road from Route 59.
Next, the suspects headed south on Bartlett Road and turned into an apartment complex southeast of the intersection of Bartlett Road and Irving Park Road
The two suspects parked the stolen vehicle in a small parking area on Merideth Lane just south of Samuel Drive, and bailed out of the vehicle. They ran west toward Bartlett Road and then south through a wooded area and southbound on Locksley Drive to a cul-de-sac on Locksley Drive where the two suspects were captured nearby after a short struggle. The suspects were captured either on Locksley Drive or Valley Lane or both — not confirmed.
One suspect was wearing a white and gray hoodie with white pants, and the other suspect was wearing a dark hoodie and jeans. Both suspects were in custody at by 8:35 a.m. and the stolen Mitsubishi Outlander was recovered. There were no other known suspects in the area, and the situation was secured.
The police helicopter is formed as Task Force of the Chicago Police Department and the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Department, which will allow the Chicago Police Department’s helicopters to become a City and County resource to be used by both agencies. The Task Forece covers Chicago and Cook County, and encompass over 975 square miles made up of over 125 municipalities that are home for over 5 million citizens of Cook County.
