Police, firefighters and paramedics from Streamwood responded at 11:03 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2020 to a report of a house fire at the rear of the building on a back porch in the block of 100 Fairview Lane. Police first on the scene reported smoke coming from the house.
Engine 31’s crew reported evacuation saw nothing from the report but then reported heavy fire from the rear of a 2-story home. The fire department response was upgraded to a working fire “Code 4” and firefighters deployed an 1 3/4 skid load of hose to the rear of the house. Firefighters used several hand lines to extinguish the fire that originated inside the building and extended into the attic.
Occupants were in the building when the fire was discovered, and successfully evacuated prior to the arrival of firefighters.
The fire was declared out with firefighters chasing hot spots by about 11:31 p.m.
There was significant damage to the building, but no reported injuries. Fire personnel also rescued a dog from house, according to Streamwood Fire Department.
Bartlett, Hanover Park and Hoffman Estates firefighters assisted at the scene. South Elgin and Carpentersville fire personnel covered Streamwood stations during the incident. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Damage is estimated at $100,000.
