An extra-alarm fire destroyed a house northeast of Presidential Park in unincorporated Algonquin Thursday morning.
Firefighters and paramedics from Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District and police from Algonquin and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded about 6:12 a.m. Thursday, December 3, 2020 to a report of a house fire in the block of 200 East Riverview Drive in unincorporated Algonquin. A passerby reported a fire on the roof of a house.
Firefighters on arrival within 6 minutes, reported fire showing from a single-story residence. The house quickly became fully-involved with fire. The neighborhood does not have fire hydrants, and firefighters had to access hydrants from another neighborhood about 1,000 feet away.
The resident of the house was not home at the time the fire was reported. No injuries were reported.
A MABAS Division 5 Box Alarm #5-170 was activated about 6:32 a.m.
Firefighters and command officers from 19 communities or fire districts responded to the scene to assist Algonquin-Lake in the Hills firefighters.
Fire engines were dispatched from Barrington, Carpentersville, Hampshire, Palatine , and West Dundee.
Tankers or Tenders were dispatched from Lake Zurich, Marengo, Nunda, Pingree Grove, Rutland, and Woodstock.
Ladder Trucks were dispatched from Elgin and Hoffman Estates.
A Rescue Squad was dispatched from McHenry.
Ambulances were dispatched from Barrington FPD and Long Grove
Command Officers and Chiefs were dispatched from Cary, Fox River Grove, and West Dundee.
A Palatine Rural fire engine crew and a Lake Zurich ambulance crew stood by in fire stations to protect the rest of Algonquin.
The Box Alarm was struck out about 7:39 a.m.
