Police and firefighters and paramedics from Streamwood responded at 9:44 a.m. Thursday, December 24, 2020 to a report of a car fire in the block of 700 Oltendorf Road. The report called in by 9-1-1 indicated that the vehicle was not close to any structures.
The first arriving engine company reported a fully involved car fire several feet from a two story home with flames already impinging on the house. Fire had already spread into the living space. Streamwood fire companies utilized several hand lines to extinguish the fire and the occupants had already evacuated the building.
There were no reported injuries, but damage to the home was significant. Firefighters from Bartlett, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates and East Dundee were assigned mutual aid at the fire scene. South Elgin and Carpentersville fire personnel covered Streamwood fire stations during the incident.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and fire investigators are currently on the scene. Damage is estimated at $100,000
