A Winter Weather Advisory was issued at 8:34 p.m. in McHenry County and Kane County and counties west for the period from 2:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2020 where 2-3 inches of snow are forecast. Snowfall of 1.0 inch is forecast in Arlington Heights and nearby northwest suburbs. Snowfall in Arlington Heights is forecast to begin between 3 AM and 4 AM and continue until 11 AM. Wet snow will change to rain beginning about 10 AM. Steady rain is forecast to continue until about 6 PM Wednesday with a total rainfall amount of about 0.65 inch.
Snow may not accumulate significantly on paved surfaces and will likely turn slushy by noon Tuesday when temperatures will reach a high of about 41°F. Snow cover will melt away Tuesday and early Wednesday, and high temperatures in the low 50s are forecast for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
Air temperature Monday night is a little colder than forecast for 9:52 p.m. NWS Chicago Executive Airport reported 34°F at 9:52 p.m. and NWS O’Hare reported 37°F. Cardinal News in Arlington Heights reported 26°F at 10:05 p.m.
