Over the past few years, some red sedans and their drivers have been connected to some highly inappropriate incidents involving young girls as victims in Arlington Heights — enough to put mom’s on cautious alert.
Arlington Heights police responded about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2020 to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked with a driver inside his vehicle in a north-central neighborhood of Arlington Heights. The driver seated in the suspicious red sedan was parked at a curb, but he kept looking over his left shoulder in the direction where some young girls were playing outside. The red car connection brought forth recall of serious disorderly conduct calls over the past few years.
Mostly recently there were two indecent exposure calls that involved a red sedan that matched the color almost exactly. According to a social media post in August 2020, the male offender in the vehicle had no pants on and was exposing himself and masturbating. Two incidents of indecent exposure occurred near the block of 1400 East Oakton Street and one indecent exposure incident occurred in the block of 200 South Ridge Avenue. The Arlington Heights Police Department also put out an official alert warning residents to be on the lookout for suspicious behavior involving a red sedan.
Then reaching back to 2017 there was a male offender suspected of attempted child luring in September 2017, and a male offender in a red sedan that approached a girl and asked the girl for sex for money in August 2017.
Also in August 2017, police received a report that a male offender pulled up in his car to a young girl and asked her for sex for money in the Scarsdale/Scarsdale Estates neighborhood.
Today’s suspicious vehicle was a false alarm. The suspicious driver was only waiting to pick up his girlfriend, who lives on a cross street of the street where he was parked. He was apparently looking over his left shoulder in the direction of his girlfriend’s house — waiting for her to exit her house. In fact, his girlfriend arrived at his car while police were communicating with the driver of the red car. It’s unknown why he was parked on the cross street instead of in front of his girlfriend’s house or on her street.
Police explained to neighbors that they were confident today’s red sedan was not the same sedan connected to the indecent exposure case in August 2020. The specific address of the incident has not been revealed by CARDINAL NEWS because the subject reported was not accused of any crime.
