Garbage Truck contents fire at Kingsley Drive and Kennicott Avenue, Arlington Heights.
Police and firefighter/paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 9:57 a.m. Thursday, November 19, 2020 to a report of a vehicle fire at Kingsley Drive and Kennicott Avenue in Arlington Heights near Lake Terramere Park.
The Groot driver dumped his load in the street on Kingsley Drive about 190 feet east of Kennicott Avenue — a standard procedure to prevent the truck from catching fire. Some flames were visible in a large garbage pile. The fire was completely extinguished in the street within about 35 minutes. Strong southwest winds were a factor in fire ignition.
According to the National Weather Service observations at Chicago Executive Airport 9:52 a.m., wind was from the Southwest at 20 MPH, gusting to 35 MPH, visibility was 10 miles with Clear Skies, Air Temperature was 57°F, Dew Point was 31°F and Relative Humidity was 37%. Air Pressure 29.97 in and 1015.1 mb.
