Police and firefighter/paramedics from Lake Forest responded about 8:48 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2020 to a report that a body was found by Metra on the Union Pacific North Line near Franklin Place and Western Avenue near the Robert McClory Bike Path in Lake Forest.
A Metra UP-N crew reported finding a body on the west of the railroad tracks near Franklin Place and Western Avenue. Police were first on the scene by 8:51 a.m. and reported the victim had no pulse.
Initial investigation indicated the victim was hit by a train. Metra police used a drone as part of their investigation. The Lake County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene, and an autopsy is pending.
Metra first indicated there was a problem with the UP-N line on Twitter, announcing that Metra UP-N Train #315 was stopped for “police activity.”
Trains began operating in both directions about 11:12 a.m. but with 15 to 30 minute delays.
