Police and firefighter/paramedics from Waukegan responded about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2020 to a report of a shooting in the block of 300 South Genesee Street. On arrival police discovered an unoccupied Mercedes with bullet holes. A short time later found two of three total gunshot victims — a 16 year-old male and an 18 year-old male.
police are investigating a Saturday night shooting that sent two teens and a 22-year-old man to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said Sunday.
Officers responding at about 9:50 p.m. to the shooting on the 300 block of South Genesee Street initially found an unoccupied sedan with bullet holes, police said. Officers later located a 16-year-old male and 18-year-old male, both from Waukegan, with gunshot wounds. A third victim was a 22 year-old male from North Chicago. He suffered a leg injury, but the details regarding the mechanism of his leg injury were not initially specified by police.
There are no suspects in custody, but police discovered a semi-automatic pistol in the neighborhood about two blocks west of the Lake Michigan shoreline. The motive is unknown and it was not initially know if the shooting victims were cooperating with police.
Waukegan Police Department is continuing with the investigation.
