Arlington Heights police received a report during the morning of Sunday October 25, 2020 of criminal damage to property in a neighborhood in south Arlington Heights between Golf Road and Central Road. Police received a report that unknown offenders criminally damaged political signs supporting Donald Trump amd Mike Pence for President and Vice President of the United States that occurred overnight Saturday, October 24, 2020 to Sunday October 25, 2020.
Images of the criminal damage in progress and/or the suspects and their vehicle were captured on multiple cameras in the neighborhood. One of the homeowners submitted images of the damage to Cardinal News.
Signs were damaged or defaced on multiple properties in a neighborhood near Arlington Heights Road between Central Road and Golf Road.
A concerned neighbor, who saw the aftermath on his way to work, dropped off a letter to the victim of one of the defacement crimes, expressing sorrow that the vandalism occurred, and writing in the letter that this show of intolerance, he believes, “is at the core of our problems, whether personal, political, or otherwise.” The neighbor said he wanted to give encouragement to the victim to let him know that “for every one intolerant person there are many who are actively working towards a more tolerant neighborhood, country, and world.”
The suspects appeared to be a male and a shorter female. At least one of the security cameras captured the suspects’ vehicle which is believed to be a 4-door silver Honda sedan.
The crime is reported to have occurred on Sunday, October 25, 2020 between 3:48 AM and 3:55 AM. The elapsed time range including the time the crime could have occurred is 0:07 (hours: minutes).
