The OfficeMax store in Mount Prospect announced in late September 2020 that the store is permanently closing. Store inventory and fixtures are being sold at the OfficeMax store at 201 West Rand Road at the Randhurst Commons shopping center in Mount Prospect (on Rand Road just west of Elmhurst Road).
The last day the store will be open is Saturday, November 14, 2020.
Office Depot and OfficeMax announced an all-stock merger on February 20, 2013. The merger was completed on November 5, 2013, The Office Depot-OfficeMax merger created the largest office-supplies chain in the United States. The OfficeMax name has continued to be used as a brand of The ODP Corporation, which operates the brands of Office Depot, OfficeMax, Grand & Toy, Ativa, TUL, Foray, Realspace, and DiVOGA. ODP is a publicly traded company on NASDAQ (ODP), and has headquarters in Boca Raton, Florida.
A merger with Staples was blocked in 2015.
The nearest Office Depot store is at 314 East Rand Road at the Northpoint Shopping Center in Arlington Heights.
