Police and firefighter/paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 3:10 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2020 to a report of a natural gas leak in the block of 1200 West Kelly Street.
Upon arrival firefighters discovered the gas leak was located on the street side of the valve of the gas meter so that firefighters were unable to shut down the leak, and were unable to crimp a pipe.
Kelly Street was blocked off at about 3:35 p.m. while firefighters waited for Nicor to repair the natural gas leak. Kelly Street is located just south of the intersection of Rand Road and Hintz Road.
Wind was southwest at 9 MPH at 2:52 p.m., according to the National Weather Service report at Chicago Executive Airport.
