As a result of a police investigation, Naperville Police arrested a Naperville resident during the third week of October 2020, accusing him of attempted child abduction in an incident that occurred on August 2, 2020.
On Sunday, August 2, 2020, Naperville Police were called to the block of 1600 Warbler Drive for a complaint that a man in a blue Honda Accord had been parked in front of the victim’s house in the block of 0-99 Redstart Road. Police received a report that the male driver in the blue Honda Accord called out to two girls, ages 3 and 5, who were in their open garage, saying “come here.”
The investigation led police to Owen M. Calkins, 69, of the 1700 block of Kildeer Drive in Naperville, who turned himself into Naperville Police on Tuesday, October 20, 2020. Owen M. Calkins is charged with misdemeanor counts of attempted child abduction and attempted disorderly conduct.
Police are requesting that anyone who has had a similar or other suspicious interaction with Mr. Calkins to call Naperville Police at 630-420-6666 and ask for the Investigations Division.
“The Naperville Police wish to remind the public and the news media that a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.”
