Police and firefighter/paramedics from Morton Grove responded about 9:48 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2020 to a report of a power outage, activated fire alarm, and a small fire in the block of 5500 Lincoln Avenue in Morton Grove.
A Mylar balloon hit a power line and caused arcing in the overhead power line. Firefighters discovered a power outage in the area first
Engine 4’s crew reported that Mylar balloons were stuck in pole-to-pole power lines, and that one of the balloons fell to the ground burning. A popped overhead circuit breaker was also reported by the crew. Engine 4’s crew also requested ComEd to the scene.
