Tree set on fire, male in custody on Walnut Avenue west of Graceland Avenue in Des Plaines.
Police and firefighter/paramedics from Des Plaines responded about 7:34 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2020 to a report of a tree on fire in block of 1100 East Walnut Avenue in Des Plaines.
Police and firefighters received a report that a male subject dumped gasoline on a tree in the parkway and lit it on fire.
Engine 63’s crew on arrival reported a tree on fire. The Battalion Chief was requested to supervise for a report that a resident was trying to burn down a tree, and had a torch going about 30 feet up the tree, creating a dangerous situation.
The fire was extinguished within about 15 minutes.
