Police and firefighter/paramedics from Libertyville responded about 1:21 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2020 to a report of a house fire in the block of 400 Briar Place in Libertyville.

The first crew on arrival reported a fully-involved attached garage fire at a 2-story home. The fire spread to a second house to the east of the first house by about 1:30 p.m. The fire at the second home was quickly extinguished.

Libertyville used their main aerial from their Quint at the front of the fire scene.




A MABAS Division 4 Box Alarm #46-20 was activated at 1:30 p.m. Fire personnel and equipment from Countryside, Deerfield, Grayslake, Gurnee, Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, Lincolnshire, Mundelein, Round Lake were dispatched to assist Libertyville firefighters at the scene.

Fire personnel and equipment from Buffalo Grove, Lake Villa, Lake Zurich, Lincolnshire, Newport, North Chicago, and Zion were dispatched to stand by at Libertyville fire stations.

A Second Alarm was activated about 1:52 p.m. Fire personnel and equipment from Great Lakes, Long Grove, Fox Grove, Highland Park, Gurnee, Deerfield, Lake Forest, and Grayslake were dispatched to the scene to assist Libertyville firefighters on the Second Alarm.

The fire box alarm was struck out by 2:22 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service at Chicago/Waukegan Regional Airport “Waukegan National Airport” winds were Variable at 7 MPH at 1:55 p.m. and Southwest at 8 MPH with gusts to 20 MPH at 2:55 p.m.

The fire is under investigation.
