A woman using a walker was hit by a car and seriously injured at the driveway entrance to Walmart on Lake Cook Road in Wheeling, Illinois.
Police and firefighter/paramedics from Wheeling responded about 10:46 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2020 to a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle at the north driveway of Walmart, 1455 Lake Cook Road.
Upon arrival police and paramedics found and adult female seriously injured down on the pavement of Lake Cook Road.
Paramedics rushed the woman from the scene, transporting her to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where she was listed in critical condition.
Lake Cook Road and the Walmart driveway were closed for a crash investigation. Initial investigation indicated the woman was walking with a walker from the north side of Lake Cook Road where the Target store is located toward the south side of Lake Cook Road where Walmart is located.
Lake Cook Road and many surfaces in the area are under construction with many flashing barricades and barrels in the area. The construction speed conditions were posted at 45 MPH. The crash occurred in darkness with dry weather conditions.
