Woman’s body found with multiple stab wound in the North Branch of the Chicago River just south of Addison Street near the Clark (Richard) Playlot Park
Police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:15 a.m. Sunday, September 27, 2020 when two people discovered the body of a woman in the North Branch of the Chicago River near the block of 3400 North Rockwell Street in Chicago.
Police and firefighter/paramedics arrived to find a female body with multiple stab wounds to the neck and face near the northwest corner of the Playlot Park just south of the Addison Street bridge. Police immediately opened a homicide case investigation at the crime scene near Clark (Richard) Playlot Park on the west side of the Roscoe Village, North Center neighborhood, bordering with the east side of the Avondale neighborhood.
Area Three detectives are leading the investigation.
Crews from Chicago Police Marine 7, SCUBA TEAM 6-8-7, CFD Ambulance 61 were also on the scene.
The crime scene is located near Lane Tech College Prep School, Kerry Wood Cubs Field, Chamberlain University College of Nursing, Devry University Chicago Campus, the DeVry Chicago Bookstore, the North Branch Riverwalk, The Garden – Chicago Dirt Jumps, and Chicago River Canoe and Kayak. The crime scene is also just south of the WGN-TV Channel 9 studios on Bradley Place near Talman Avenue and Addison Street. There area also thick wooded areas nearby.
