Arlington Heights police received a report about 4:06 PM Monday September 14, 2020 of a residential burglary in the block of 1200 East Waverly Place Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders unlawfully entered the victim’s residence after the victim was distracted by an accomplice (ruse burglary).
While the victim was outside in the backyard of the property with an offender posing as a lawn maintenance specialist, another offender or multiple offenders entered through the front door of the residence and ransacked the master bedroom.
The accomplice is described as a male, Hispanic in his 40s with short hair, wearing dark clothing and speaking with an accent.
The offenders were last seen leaving the area in a newer model black Chevrolet Equinox with Illinois dealer license plates. Taken from the bedroom were several items of jewelry.
The total value of the stolen items is pending further investigation of the crime, which is being classified as a ruse burglary.
The crime is reported to have occurred on Monday, September 14, 2020 between 4:00 PM and 4:05 PM. The elapsed time range including the time the crime could have occurred is 0:05 (hours: minutes).
