Rollover delivery van crash from Burning Bush Lane into Indian Grove Elementary School parking lot in Mount Prospect.
Police and firefighter/paramedics from Mount Prospect responded about 2:41 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2020 to a report of a rollover van crash with extrication required at Indian Grove Elementary School, 1340 Burning Bush Lane.
Firefighter/paramedics and police arrived on the scene to find a white delivery van rolled on its passenger side in the parking lot of Indian Grove School.
Firefighter/paramedics worked with extrication tools and cut out the front windshield to free the driver from inside crashed vehicle. A witness on the scene reported the driver did not appear to be seriously injured. The driver was transported to a local hospital by Mount Prospect Fire Department paramedics — possibly NorthShore Glenbrook Hospital.
A witness at the scene said the van might have been carrying Amazon packages, but there were no markings on the white van that indicated the name of the business operating the commercial van.
The crash is under investigation by the Mount Prospect Police Department. The driver of the Dodge Ram ProMaster delivery van was apparently northbound on Burning Bush Lane when the vehicle cross across the oncoming lane and the parkway of the oncoming lane of traffic, hit a tree, hit a School Crossing caution sign, hit a Stop Sign and No Left Turn sign, and rolled in the parking lot at the southeast corner of the school. The impact dragged a medium-size tree in the parking lot. The Speed Limit on Burning Bush Lane is 25 MPH.
Public Works employees used a power saw to remove the tree debris, and removed the damaged signs and sign posts.
No students were at the school, but teachers and staff were at the school at the time of the crash.
