Pedestrian Hit by a Metra Train Near Des Plaines Downtown Metra Station Near Miner St and Lee St, Des Plaines

Police and firefighter/paramedics from Des Plaines responded about 5:03 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2020 to a report of a pedestrian hit by a train at the Metra Train Station, 1501 Miner Street in Des Plaines.

UPDATE: Incident is a death investigation, and a drone was up capturing images of the scene.

Traffic on eastbound Miner Street (US 14) was moderately affected by the emergency response at the scene.

A Metra Alert reported that Metra UP-NW – Train #652, scheduled to arrive Ogilvie Transportation Center at 5:38 PM was “stopped at Des Plaines, police activity.”

A Metra tweet with a Suicide Prevention public service message was a scheduled tweet, and was not posted in response to the Des Plaines pedestrian incident, according to Metra.
