Cook County Sheriff’s Deputies responded about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2020 to investigate shots fired near Clifford’s Pub, 1503 Rand Road, according to a witness of the investigation.
Cook County Sheriff’s police were also notified by the Northwest Community Hospital Emergency Department that a 24-year-old male gunshot victim arrived in the emergency department, and was being treated for a gunshot wound. The gunshot victim did not cooperate with Cook County Sheriff’s Office investigators attempting to get information about the shooting. The victim’s injuries were initially believed to be non-life-threatening.
Prior to police awareness of the shooting victim at Northwest Community Hospital, there were no reports of any injuries at the shooting scene in unincorporated Palatine Township, and firefighter/paramedics were not dispatched overnight Friday/Saturday to the scene at the northwest corner of Rand Road and Route 53 (Frontage Road). The gunshot victim apparently arrived at Northwest Community Hospital by personal transportation.
Crime scene tape was set up as a perimeter to the south end parking lot of the strip mall where Clifford’s Pub is located. To the north, crime scene tape was set up blocking access to four store units north of Clifford’s Pub in the strip mall at the northwest corner of Rand Road (US-12 and Frontage Road). The investigation at the scene lasted until about 5:00 a.m. Saturday according to a witness.
The shooting investigation is ongoing. The shooting scene investigation was located at a small area of unincorporated Palatine Township between Palatine and Arlington Heights, just west of Route 53.
There is no official confirmation whether Cook County Sheriff’s responded to a “shots fired” call before they were notified regarding the gunshot victim’s arrival at Northwest Community Hospital.
