Gurnee Police Work to Calm Disturbance, Help Parents Get Children Home Near Gurnee Mills, McDonald’s

A minor disturbance involving a group of teenagers was reported outside at the southwest side of the Gurnee Mills property Friday night, September 4, 2020 around the time of the mall’s Friday night COVID-19 closing time of 7:00 p.m.

Teens left Gurnee Mills and arrived at McDonald’s (open 24 hours), and then other parts of the neighborhood after 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2020.

Police wearing masks worked to disperse the crowd. Some of the teens were also wearing masks. No injuries were reported. A video posted on Facebook showed a police officer chasing one youth. Several police officers responded to the scene.

One commenter on the social media-shared video wrote, “I swear to God no officer better ever touch one of my minors because ima have him in a bag whether he or she is hurt or not. DONT TOUCH MY KIDS!”

There was no mention of the incident on the Gurnee Police Department Facebook page as of Saturday morning at 6:00 a.m., and there were no arrests reported.
