A total of nine people were wounded between the shootings at 68th Street and Claremont Avenue and at 122nd and May streets. CBS 2’s Steven Graves reports.
Police and firefighter/paramedics from Chicago responded about 5:37 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2020 to a report of several people shot.
Police on arrival in the residential West Pullman neighborhood reported four people shot. A Chicago Department EMS Plan 1 was activated at the scene by 5:42 p.m. Two people were found inside a house. It was initially unknown if they were shot outside and then went inside the house.
Witnesses reported several people were standing outside a residence when two black sedans were driven northbound on May Street, and occupants opened fire just after 5:35 p.m., according to police.
A male gunshot victim was shot several times in the chest. He was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition. One victim was also shot in the chest and abdomen.
A 24-year-old man, 29-year-old woman, and a man about 50 years-old also suffered gunshot wounds. Two of the people were shot in the foot. At least two of the people were transported Code Yellow and Code Green, and were hospitalized in stable condition. Calumet Park firefighter/paramedics also transported one patient. All patients were adults, but the age of one of the patients was initially unknown.
Patients were transported to Level 1 Trauma Center University of Chicago, Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Christ Medical Center, and Roseland Community Hospital.
