Police and firefighter/paramedics from Schaumburg responded about 12:59 a.m. Sunday, September 20, 2020 to a crash from the westbound lanes of the Interstate 90 tollway into the south parking lot at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel at 1551 Thoreau Drive North in Schaumburg. The driver of the vehicle was ejected from his vehicle and suffered grave injuries.
The crash victim, Hayden Jurillo-Vergara, age 39, was transported by Schaumburg Fire Department firefighter/paramedics to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, where he was pronounced dead.
According to the Illinois State Police, his vehicle hit a guard rail on westbound I-90 east of Meacham Road and crashed through the parking lot fence of the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel. He was ejected from his vehicle into the parking lot.
An Illinois State Police investigation initially indicates that Jurillo-Vergara lost control of his vehicle for an unknown reason. He was driving in the left lane of the tollway and struck the guard rail on the right shoulder. Illinois State Police describe the crash as a one-vehicle crash, which occurred at approximately 12:58 a.m.
