Police and firefighter/paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 4:15 p.m. Monday, September 21, 2020 to a report of a natural gas leak after an underground line was hit by a construction crew near Arlington Heights Road and Park Street.
Nicor was also immediately dispatched to the scene.
Firefighters reported the gas leak was near the southeast corner of Arlington Heights Road and Park Street. The leak is located in a residential neighborhood in the block of 200 East Park Street.
Wind was reported South at 7MPH with air temperature 75°F at 3:51 p.m., according to the National Weather Service office at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.
Northbound Arlington Heights Road was blocked by police, and backed up to Rockwell Street by about 4:35 p.m.
There has been new gas main installation ongoing on the east side of Arlington Heights during the past few months.
