Police and firefighter/paramedics from Waukegan responded about 9:45 p.m. Friday August 28, 2020 when a patrol officer heard a scream in the block of 700 North Green Bay Road in Waukegan. The patrol officer investigated the area of a parking lot and discovered a 15-year-old Waukegan boy shot and mortally wounded. The boy died at the scene.
Witnesses in the area reported that a dark-colored SUV, possibly blue, left the scene at a high-rate of speed. Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the vehicle and seeking the driver of the vehicle for investigation.
The case is being investigated as a homicide and no one was initially in custody.
The Waukegan Police Department urges anyone with information to leave a tip at 847-360-9001.
