Two Chicago police officers were shot in Chicago’s Homan Square neighborhood Sunday morning. The officers fired back after a man shot at them, according to the Chicago Police Department (Vi Nguyen/CBS Chicago).
Police and firefighter/paramedics from Chicago responded about 2:31 a.m. Sunday August 30, 2020 when shots were fired and two Chicago police officers were shot and an offender was also shot. Chicago police report that a suspect fired shots and shot two police officers, and Chicago police officers returned fire. The suspect’s gun was immediately recovered at the scene.
Police were on a traffic stop on Polk Street just east of Homan Avenue and had called for backup at about 2:29 a.m. An occupant or occupants were inside a locked car. Within about two minutes police reported shots fired with two police officers down, and the offender down.

Deputy Director – News Affairs & Communications Tom Ahern confirmed at 2:50 AM that two Chicago Police Officers have been shot in the 11th District. Both Chicago police officers were transported to Stroger Hospital. Their conditions were not initially known.
The offender was transported to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood where their condition was not initially known.
Polk Street is closed in the area for an extended police investigation.
