Police and firefighter/paramedics from Schaumburg responded about 2:14 p.m. Monday August 3, 2020 to a report from a passerby that black smoke was coming from the roof at IKEA, 1800 McConnor Parkway. Workers on the scene also reported that they thought they had the fire extinguished, possibly with some type of electrical equipment on the roof.
Rolling Meadows ambulance crew while responding reported seeing white smoke coming from the roof.
The incident was apparently secured by about 2:30 p.m. but some firefighters were still working at the scene on the roof after 2:30 p.m.
No injuries were reported.
